Under the direction of parent company Ford Motor Company, Lincoln is poised to increase production of its vehicles on U.S. soil starting in 2030. The expanded production of Lincoln cars on U.S. grounds will take place slowly over the next few years. Simultaneously, Lincoln will cease imports of vehicles from other countries, particularly China. Lincoln will focus primarily on increasing production of the Lincoln Navigator and Lincoln Aviator in the US.
Why Is Lincoln Focusing On US Vehicle Production?
Lincoln intends to start producing more cars on US soil for several reasons. For starters, Lincoln and Ford have traditionally stood out as American automakers. Producing vehicles in the US will strengthen Lincoln and Ford’s position as a top automaker in the country. Producing key vehicles in the US will also reduce tariffs. By expanding its production facilities in the country, Lincoln will create thousands of new jobs.
To carry out its plans, Lincoln is focusing on the expansion of its two key plants in the US, which are the Truck Plant located in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Assembly Plant located in Chicago, Illinois. The Lincoln Navigator is the primary vehicle that Lincoln manufactures in Kentucky, while the Lincoln Aviator is the vehicle produced most often at the Chicago, Illinois plant. Lincoln plans to increase production of both signature vehicles. While it will reduce vehicle imports from other countries in the next few years, Lincoln will continue exporting its vehicles to markets worldwide, including Mexico, the Middle East, and Canada.
The Legacy Continues
For Ford Motors, returning the production of Lincoln vehicles to US soil is a natural choice. In 2025, Ford was the top automaker in the country for vehicle assembly and vehicle exports. Per hour, Ford also employed more auto workers than any other auto brand. Currently, Ford employs over 56,000 manufacturing workers hourly, which is more than any other automaker in the US.
