Specs at a Glance

Credited with being the first full-size luxury SUV, the Lincoln Navigator has always appealed to those who like a mix of high-level premium quality with bruising power on the road. With its 2019 model year, the full-size SUV is still new in its fourth production cycle, so it’s virtually unchanged. The 2019 Lincoln Navigator is available in seven trim variants, with the Reserve and Reserve L forming the middle tier. Apart from the longer wheelbase on the Reserve L (thus the “L” suffix), both models are essentially the same.

Performance

The 2019 Lincoln Navigator Reserve/Reserve L is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that is capable of producing 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The engine is hitched to a 10-speed automatic transmission, which includes a SelectShift shifter for convenient driver control of gear selection. Four-wheel drive is standard on the Navigation Reserve trim level for optimal all-weather driving performance, as well as a fuel economy of 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. Thanks to its beefy engine and the standard Tow/Haul mode, this SUV can tow up to 8,300 lbs (Reserve) or 8,100 lbs (Reserve L).

Appearance

Ford Motors uses an all-aluminum body for the Lincoln Navigator to reduce the weight of the large vehicle. Couple that with side-wind stabilization, and the SUV consequently provides a stable drive. The front fascia includes a satin-chrome mesh grille with bright chrome surround, adaptive headlights with signature lighting, and tow hooks. The SUV provides ebony power-deployable illuminated running boards to make getting in and out safer and more convenient, and automatic heated power-folding mirrors with turn-signal indicators are attached to the front doors. On the top are a power panoramic sunroof and bright roof-rack side rails. A body-colored spoiler joins the taillamps, dual exhaust tips, and the hands-free liftgate in the rear.

Features

Both the 2019 Lincoln Navigator Reserve and Reserve L supply three rows of seats to accommodate up to seven people. However, since the Reserve L has a wheelbase that is 9.1 inches longer than the regular Reserve, it provides 15 more cubic feet of standard cargo space (34.3 cubic feet to 19.3 cubic feet). Heated and ventilated front seats with 24-way power adjustability and a memory system, leather seat trim, and a leather- and wood-trimmed heated steering wheel are standard. For comfort and convenience, the Reserve trim level includes features such as cruise control, remote engine start, a wireless charging pad, a smart key system with push-button engine start, a six-month SiriusXM radio, travel, and traffic subscription, HD Radio, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, tri-zone automatic climate control, a universal home remote, an auto-dimming frameless rearview mirror, a 12-inch configuration digital instrument cluster, a 14-speaker Revel audio system, and a voice-activated navigation system. For safety, the Navigator provides six airbags, electronic vehicle and roll stability control, 360-degree camera with split-view display, LED daytime running lamps, trailer sway control, four-wheel anti-lock braking, hill descent control, MyKey technology to encourage better driving from teenagers, and an SOS post-crash system. For security, the Navigator combines keyless entry, a perimeter alarm, an invisible keypad, and intrusion and inclination sensors. The cargo dimensions and space between the 2019 Reserve and the 2019 Reserve L trim can make a big difference. The Reserve trim offers 20.9 ft³ of cargo space, while the Reserve L trim offers 36 ft³ of cargo space.
