Specs at a Glance
“Cool,” “calm,” and “composed” are words Lincoln uses to describe its latest Continental. However, with the addition of a new, more powerful V6 engine, it is also fun to drive. This larger-than-life SUV has traditionally been made to impress, and the latest model year is no exception. Now, the Continental proudly offers the smoothest, quietest, and most comfortable ride yet. An elegant design – both inside and out – with evident attention to detail shows that much thought and care was put into the design of the Continental. There are four trim levels in this year's Continental. The Select is the second trim, while the Black Label is the fourth and most elite.
Performance
In 2019, the Select is powered by a 3.7L, six-cylinder engine with a continuously variable timing (CVT) technology. The engine produces up to 305 HP at 6,500 RPM. It generates a maximum of 280 LB-FT of torque. This standard engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual-shift capacity. The engine runs on standard gasoline. The Black Label gets a different engine, however. Its engine is a twin-turbo 3.0L, also a six-cylinder, that produces a maximum of 400 HP at 5,750 RPM. This engine creates a maximum of 400 LB-FT of torque at a maximum 2,750 RPM. Like the Select, the engine in the Black Label is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission with an available manual-shift capacity.
Appearance
No matter which trim level of the Continental you get, it's safe to say you will get a vehicle that turns heads. The Select comes standard with 19-inch aluminum wheels, while the Black Label comes standard with 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. Larger 20-inch wheels are available on the Select. LED lights are standard in both vehicles; HID lights with a daytime-running feature are standard on the Select, while the Black Label gets brighter premium LED lights instead. Both trims have the signature Lincoln mesh grille, and both get dual chrome exhaust tips. Fender vents are also standard on both trim levels. Auto-folding side mirrors, active grille shutters, and laminated windows are other highlights of both Continental trims.
Features
There are a number of notable features in both trim levels of this year's Continental. Inside, the Select gets a dual-zone climate control system. In the Black Label, however, you get an additional climate zone control in the back. A heated steering wheel is standard on the Black Label and available on the Select. The Black Label comes with active parking assist and a head-up display to make driving while using the infotainment system safer. The Select comes standard with a 10-speaker sound system with the option of upgrading to 13 speakers. The Black Label trim level comes with 19 speakers. Both trim levels have heated leather seats. The seats in the Select move in 10 ways, while the seats in the Black Label move in 30 ways. Lumbar support is offered in both. When it comes to safety, both trim levels certainly have you covered. Front, side, and knee airbags are standard in the front seat. Both trims have four-wheel anti-lock brakes, a LATCH locking system for child seats, and a post-crash response system. An individual tire pressure monitoring system is standard, as is traction control. A backup camera is another standard feature. Some features, such as outboard seat belts, are optional.
With all that they offer, you can't go wrong with either the Continental Select or the Continental Black Label. Both are elegant, impressive, and well-equipped luxury vehicles. But with just a few more standard amenities, the Black Label takes a slight lead for luxury and sophistication. No matter which one catches your eye, we invite you in to test out one or both at our dealership. Call or contact us online for more information or visit our Phoenix dealership for a test drive.
